Washington Dulles International Airport Delivery Scam
Washington Dulles International Airport
My name is Croxson Mike, an immigration officer currently stationed at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)... so starts a standard 419 scam. You are entitled to a large sum of money provided in advance you pay me a relatively small amount of money. You never receive the promised large amount of money.

Good day to your sir,
Greetings from Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)
My name is Croxson Mike, an immigration officer currently stationed at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD). I normally wouldn’t reach out to you directly, but due to the seriousness of the situation, I felt it necessary to contact you personally.
On September 15, 2025, a representative from DHL arrived at the airport with a package addressed to you. According to the attached documentation, the package contains an ATM card with a validated amount of $4.5 million USD, along with official documents, including a Beneficiary Ownership Certificate confirming your status as the rightful recipient of the funds.
The reason for the delay in delivery is due to an outstanding airport clearance fee of $540 USD. The agent responsible for delivering the package has reportedly made several unsuccessful attempts to reach you and the originating organization. As a result, the agent left the package in our custody and provided the necessary dispatch instructions, pending payment of the clearance fee.
Initially, this case raised concerns; however, after reviewing the documents and contents, we have confirmed the legitimacy of the package. We are willing to take full responsibility for ensuring the card is delivered safely to your doorstep, but we must first settle the required clearance charges in accordance with our customs and airport policy.
Please note, if this issue is not resolved promptly, the package may be transferred to the airport’s storage facility under customs supervision, which could result in additional fees and further delays.
I urge you to respond at your earliest convenience so we can proceed without complications. I am in a position to oversee this process personally and ensure everything is handled as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Thank you for your attention, with all due respect I look forward to your prompt response.
Sincerely,
Croxson Mike

Notes: Sender email address: An educational establishment in Thailand... why would an immigration officer at a US airport be using such an address or even why would an immigration officer be dealing with a package when it would more likely be in the remit of the Customs agency?
If you attempt a reply your email will be sent to this address... airline_use@outlook.com
If you need further convincing ask yourself: why would you be entitled to such an amount of money? The email being sent out is being sent to a number of recipients and yet there is supposedly only one ATM card. Do you really think if you pay the requested fee you will receive the ATM card? If you do, I have a large metal structure in Paris to sell you, it is known as the Eiffel Tower!
Recommendation:
Just delete the e-mail, don't engage with the spammers.
I decided to play along using one of our fictitious identities and email account. I asked how the fee should be paid and how long would it take to receive my ATM card

The choices of payment methods offered do not seem consistent with those an International airport would receive... I would expect a bank transfer or a Credit/Debit card payment, but this isn't the airport requesting payment but scammers (need to always bear that in mind and don't be taken in). I replied opting for Paypal.

A Paypal payment to a personal paypal account, specifying Family and Friends support only does not give me much confidence that this is a genuine "airport clearance fee". I responded saying I have been blocked by paypal from sending the money, I attached a fake paypal email message used by scammers obtained from a google search link

I think these are rather rude words from the Nigerian Igbo language. I have asked that they restrict themselves to English, but that is the last I have heard from them.
