Alina - Romance Scammer

It would seem that there is this lady called Alina from Kazakhstan who would like to develop a relationship with me.

She writes: "Dear I'm Alina, a woman of 38 years old living in Kazakhstan. It feels quite unusual to be writing this letter, knowing it might end up in the hands of someone I don't know. Yet, here I am, taking a leap of faith, hoping to connect with someone special – a man who values friendship, honesty, and genuine connection...."

Let's see the full e-mail from "Alina" but even from the opening lines I suspect it is someone (male or female) and perhaps not even called Alina who is trying to work a "Romance Scam" and deprive me from my hard earned funds.

Dear I'm Alina, a woman of 38 years old living in Kazakhstan. It feels quite unusual to be writing this letter, knowing it might end up in the hands of someone I don't know. Yet, here I am, taking a leap of faith, hoping to connect with someone special – a man who values friendship, honesty, and genuine connection. The approaching Christmas and New Year holidays make this time even more meaningful. They remind us to cherish loved ones and open ourselves up to new possibilities. It's during these festive days that I find myself reflecting on the past year and dreaming of what the future holds. One of those dreams is finding someone with whom I can share experiences, laughter, and perhaps even love. I understand this might sound quite bold, but please believe me when I say I am sincere in my desire to connect. Writing this letter is a way of stepping out of my comfort zone and embracing the unknown. Maybe it's a sign that something beautiful awaits us both. Perhaps you are reading this with curiosity, wondering who I am. Well, let me tell you a little about myself. I am an avid reader, lost in fictional worlds whenever I find a quiet moment. My favorite genre is historical fiction – stories of love, loss, and triumph that transport me to different eras. I also enjoy learning new languages, finding the beauty in the sounds and rhythms of words from different cultures. Right now, I'm trying to master Spanish – the passion and rhythm of the language captivate me. Music plays a vital role in my life. I find solace in classical music, the intricate melodies soothing my soul. But I also love vibrant Latin music, its infectious energy making me want to dance. When the weather is warm, you'll often find me picnicking in one of the many beautiful parks around the city, listening to music and soaking up the sunshine. I am a firm believer in honesty, kindness, and loyalty. These values guide my interactions with others, shaping the kind of relationships I cherish. I seek someone who shares these beliefs, someone who is genuine, compassionate, and ready to build something meaningful. Perhaps you are wondering about my past experiences. I have been through some ups and downs, as life often throws our way. But these challenges have only made me stronger and more resilient. They have taught me the importance of forgiveness, self-love, and appreciating the beauty of each day. Now, I am ready for a new chapter – a chapter filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures. If this letter resonates with you, I would love to hear from you. Tell me about yourself, your passions, your dreams. What makes your heart sing? I am particularly curious to know about: * Your age and what life has taught you so far * Your hobbies and interests – what do you enjoy doing in your free time? * What kind of music do you like, and are you a dancer at heart? * Do you enjoy traveling, exploring new cultures, or perhaps dreaming of exotic destinations? * What are your plans for the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays? I hope this letter finds you well. Remember, kindness and sincerity can bridge any distance. Please feel free to write back to me at beautifulalina@mailpoints.site . I promise to share lots of photos if you choose to respond. Wishing you a joyous holiday season filled with love, warmth, and happiness. Warmly, Alina

What is a Romance Scam

This is where someone from overseas contacts the "target" and "develops a romantic relationship". As things "develop" the scammer will ask for money to meet some domestic matter and if money is sent further requests will be made later.

If you receive such an email you will be just one of many e-mail addresses it has been sent to. Nothing can be assumed to be the truth. Performing a reverse image search shows there is a Russian lady who may be called Alina (or any one of several aliases) and appears on a number of Russian facebook glamour sites.

The e-mail address I have been asked to reply to has only been set up on the mailpoints.site domain name within the last 14 days whilst the sender e-mail domain would not open up a website for me.

IP Lookup - 178.176.82.56

It is possible to discover the ip address of the device that was used to send Alina's email from examining the e-mail headers or checking the receiving server.

The resulting IP address can be input into an online service such as What is my IP address? which gives an approximate geolocations of the Russian town of Morki. So it would appear that Alina is not actually contacting us from Khazikstan but southern Russia.

Recommendation:

The e-mail was automatically marked as spam, just delete. Sad to say there will be some people somewhere who will fall for Alina's scam attempts.
