Scamminder - Legit or Scam

I recently discovered the online program Scamminder.com. This program uses AI to scan submitted website urls to determine the Trust and reliability of those websites ie are they trustworthy and safe or are they a scam.

I found the program useful as well in reviewing my own websites to see whether they were regarded as trustworthy and safe or a scam.

I found three other Scam detection websites had scanned the Scamminder website itself. The three websites were:

My Thoughts

Contact Details
Websites should wherever possible have full contact details consisting of E-Mail address, Telephone number, Physical address together with the full legal name of the entity and any registration numbers pertaining to the entity. As far as I can see Scamminder only has the e-mail address: info@scamminder.com. There is mention of the company name being ScamMinder AI Trust LLC but no physical address or telephone number. This to me is a "Red Flag" when the company is seeking to sell "Verification badges".

Verification badges
If you register on the website you can apply for "verification badges" for your website. This involves submitting digital copies of various documents relating to your website/web business and a fee of at least US$250 per year.

The request for the submission of documents seems to have many of the characteristics of a "phishing scam" and a Fee for a verification badge of US$250 equivalent to at least two years website hosting and domain registration fees is exhorbitant.

I don't have any confidence in their privacy/data protection page because of the inadeqate contact details... no mention of a data controller under GDPR regulations. Their Terms of Service page seems meaningless.

My Recommendations

It probably won't do any harm to use their scanner but I would be wary of submitting information to them as part of the submission process for the award of a verification badge. There are better uses for US$250. If you think it of value it is relatively easy for a webmaster to link to the scamminder review webpage for your website on their website... and that will cost you nothing.
