Sgt Amelia Argueta - Scammer
English Fairy Stories start with the words "Once upon a time..." and they end with the words "and they all lived happily ever after". Between the opening words and the closing words you are promised an exciting story, many of them performed on stage as "Pantomimes" but characters in the story are made up and nothing you are told happens happens, it is all make-believe. Scam e-mails are just the same but if you are taken in by the story and believe the promises made to you you will not live "happily ever after" but live with a much lower bank balance than previously and feel cheated and that someone has taken advantage of you.
The person pretending to be Sgt Amelia Argueta male or female and different people have used that name since at least 2017 tells a good story of discovered treasure worth millions of dollars which for a little bit of help on your part they are willing to share with you.
Sit back in your seats and be entertained, the lights are going down and the curtains on the stage are opening.

Thank you for your response.
My name is Sgt. Amelia Argueta, I am assigned to the 167th Infantry Division while attached to the 3rd Infantry Brigade. Kindly accept my sincere apology for contacting you in this manner, I got your contact details after an extensive online search Via (Truthfinder public records search) I was searching for a reliable person while in need of assistance, and with the record I found about you I summoned the courage to contact you. If you are willing to show me your honesty and trust, I think I might be able to trust and work with you.
I am seeking your assistance to evacuate the sum of $15,000,000 (Fifteen Million us currency) to you for safekeeping for the period of four months till when I will be returning back to the states, as long as I am assured that these funds will be safe in your care until I complete my service over here in Camp Bonifas. Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, and upon my arrival I shall come over to pick up my share of the funds. Note: It is not a stolen fund and there is no risk involved in this deal, just trust me on this.
SOURCE OF MONEY:
My team discovered some money in various currencies that were concealed in barrels with piles of weapons and ammunition at a location of insurgent hideout during a rescue operation over here in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, and it was agreed by all parties present that the money is shared among us, this was quite an illegal thing to do, but I tell you what? No compensation can make up for the risks we have taken with our lives in this hell hole. The amount of $15,000,000 was given to me as my share and I have them stored in two consignment safe deposit boxes, to conceal this kind of money became a problem for me due to my status as a U.S Sergeant, I cannot move these huge funds to my account in the United States to avoid further interrogation or face any kind of probation by the U.S government.
But with the help of a diplomatic contact working here, and his office enjoys some immunity I was able to get the package out to a safe location entirely out of trouble. He does not know the real contents of the package and believes that it belongs to an Asian American who died in an air raid and before giving up, trusted me to hand over the package to his family. I know there is absolutely going to be a great doubt and distrust in your heart in respect to this email coupled with the fact that so many miscreants and mischief-makers have taken possession of the Internet to facilitate their nefarious deeds, thereby making it extremely difficult to believe that any quest for assistance through the Internet is real or genuine making it difficult for persons who need help to get attention, however, I'm giving you my word and assuring you that everything is real and safe.
You might also be wondering how I would be able to get such a huge amount of money out of this country. There is a secure way of getting these funds out and delivered to you. I will discuss this with you when I am sure that you are willing to assist me. One passionate appeal I will make to you is not to discuss this matter with a third party, should you have reasons to reject this offer, please destroy this email as any leakage of this information will be too bad for us. I have survived 2 suicide bomb attacks by the special grace of God, this and other reasons I mentioned earlier have prompted me to reach out for help, I will also agree to offer you a reasonable percentage (30%) of this, (10%) for Charity and (60%) should be kept for me to pick up. Please you have to accept this from the total sum as your share in this transaction,
Keep in mind at all times the need for confidentiality and absolute secrecy due to the amount involved in this project as you will agree with me that loose lips sink ships. Phone conversation is not a safe measure in this endeavor. I cannot call you on the phone as I am not always at the base as a result of my operational schedule and active duty everything must be done via email. Hope you are okay with this? I need your urgent reply in this regard. If you are interested, please let me know so I can give you more information on this project.
Regards,
Sgt. Amelia Argueta.
Note: The request for secrecy is so that someone you tell about the plan does not see it as a scam and persuade you not to go any further
Let's confirm that we are still interested.

Note: Appreciation of our honesty and reliability expressed perhaps to invoke a similar assessment of the writer's character (we would be mistaken). Request for information. If such information is supplied with your true details it is just what every identity thief needs or other scammers to contact you with "new" scams.
Furthering their "honesty" they have attached "their" photograph. Examination of the original size photograph shows an hispanic young lady who could be in the US military and she has name patches Argueta. I don't think the photograph has been photoshopped with the name patches. I am reasonably sure it depicts someone in the US military called Argueta but I am absolutely positive that the person who has contacted us is not the person in this photograph.
I have just done a Google Image Search (Reverse Image Search) and found the identical photograph on this page:
https://www.usar.army.mil/News/Images/igphoto/2001294073/
The photograph is of Army Reserve Lt. Col. Vicky Argueta, Equal Opportunity Advisor, 85th Support Command, sharing her Army story during Hispanic Heritage Awareness Month. The image/page was first listed on google on Oct 11, 2015.
So in this scam Vicky appears to have been reduced in rank from a Lt. Col. to just a Sgt., changed her first name and of course she is on operations in South Korea.

Dear [Name redacted],
Thank you for your kind message and for sharing your photograph! Be rest assured that your information is safe and will not be distributed in any form. I want you to be fully aware of my plans for the package to be sent so that nothing will be a surprise to you and for a proper understanding of the procedures.
The shipment will be tagged diplomatic documents and of Ancient Graphic Art Materials and will be in Trunk Boxes. With this, it will not be checked at any port of entry by country customs or airport securities. This is because of the diplomatic immunity on it. So, it will be just you and me that is aware of its original content. Definitely, there will be NO problem with the government official and as I said in my prior message the shipment will be moved from Japan to your location.
I cannot be seen with any sum of 100 USD around here, as it is not allowed or make transfers on this course (it will be a serious risk on my side and bring about awareness on our monitoring team). Though shipment of such with diplomatic immunity is very expensive here. I will deduct whatever is the shipping cost from the total fund to enable me to pay for the cost of sending it across to you.
I will really appreciate some dedication of your time to this so that things can be fast without unnecessary delays. Always remember the need for confidentiality and absolute secrecy. I am totally incapable of doing anything from my position and my only hope lies with you.
Also, understand that sometimes, I may be on special duty outside the camp and I may NOT be able to access my email. But whenever I am in the base, I will always be in contact. So it will be nice if you write to me every time as a partner.
I must confess that I really appreciate your kind of person in this transaction. I’ll do all my possible best to make sure everything goes smoothly out here and will also, make do with your information and keep you posted as soon as shipment is moved, to enable you to avail yourself of its arrival.
I will need your assistance when the time comes. Do you know of any lucrative business where I can put some part of my money? Please advise.
I'll move now to proceed with the Shipment. I'll not be back to Red Cloud Garrison for about 5 to 7 hours. Immediately the shipment is moved, I will contact you. Would find a safe computer to send you a message.
Once again thank you and God bless. Please confirm receipt of this message. I’ll await your confirmation message.
Thanks,
God bless you.
Your Friend,
Sgt.Amelia Argueta

Hi Amelia,
Thank you for your e-mail setting out the details for the transfer of the money.
I have given some thought to lucrative business opportunities in the UK.
I think a growing market is owning residential property that you rent out. A property could be split into a number of self-contained flats or the property could be converted into a House of Multiple Occupancy (HMO) where each tenant has their own room and there are shared lounges, kitchen and bathrooms. HMO is particularly suitable to rent out to University students and most large towns or cities in the UK now have their own university.

Dear [Name redacted],
Thank you for your email and for the great ideal! The rental property market, especially in university towns, has always been a lucrative avenue when managed well. Converting properties into HMOs is particularly appealing because it can maximize rental income by catering to a larger number of tenants within the same space. Plus, with the steady demand from students and young professionals, the risk of prolonged vacancies is relatively low.
I am pleased to inform you that the package has been successfully sent. Kindly find the attached shipping document for your reference. Please ensure to coordinate with the diplomat before his arrival to let him know you are expecting a package to be delivered to your address through diplomatic means. The reference number for the package is: DI100060001002261071. Please note that the real content of the two boxes should not be disclosed during any correspondence with him.
The unlock codes for the boxes will be provided in my next email. As per the airway bill, I have paid for the shipping. The boxes will be weighed and customs duties will be required. Please ensure prompt payment of the customs charges to facilitate the delivery of the boxes by the diplomat within the expected timeframe. The boxes were labeled as Swift Military Consignment to maintain confidentiality.
I want to assure you that there is no risk involved in this project, only potential gains. Upon delivery of the boxes, you can open one and use the money inside to reimburse yourself for the duties fees. The combined weight of the two luggage is 296.84KG, and you will be billed based on weight. Dip. Steve Walters will provide instructions on how to make the upfront payment for customs duty fees in USD. the two trunk boxes labeled as Classified-Docs1 and Classified-Docs2. Prior to delivery, $10,939 was deducted from Classified-Docs1 to cover the shipping expenses. For further communication, please find below the contact details:

Dip. will be arriving in 2 days as scheduled. He is a trustworthy individual and comes highly recommended for this job. I have personally known him since 2018 and he has successfully completed multiple projects for my superior. Please cooperate with him and ensure a speedy delivery to avoid unwanted attention from customs. I have full confidence in his abilities to complete the task without any issues.
As mentioned earlier, it is crucial that we expedite the customs clearance process for the boxes. It is unsafe for them to remain in customs custody for an extended period due to their contents. Please ensure you receive the boxes promptly and follow his instructions diligently. Kindly acknowledge the receipt of this email.

Sgt Amelia Argueta.

4th paragraph mention of upfront custom fees needing to be paid. Cannot find any mention of Brismik Security Service or Brismik Securities on the internet. Nice touch the Waybill, it is marvellous what you can do with a computer and scanner.
The redacted portion detailed the fictitious name, address and telephone number where the fictitious consignment boxes should be delivered.

Note: Bear in mind the persons pretending to be Amelia Arguete and Dip Steve Walters could very well be the same person. Diplomats do not organise individual's courier needs. They may carry documents or other items in the "diplomatic bag" but they are documents and items being moved from an embassy to their home country and vice-versa. Why is a "Diplomat" using the GMail account for a Securities/Courier company? It just sounds good saying a diplomatic courier is involved.

Unfortunately I do not have any money to pay the requested fee of £2,550.
I have copied the sender Sgt Amelia Argueta in on this email.
Perhaps you could discuss this matter with Sgt Argueta and that she agrees to make the payment instead of myself?
In the absence of such an agreement the consignment boxes assuming they are already in transit to the United Kingdom will need to be returned to the sender in Japan.

Dear [Name redacted],I wish to express my gratitude to you for your partnership in this transaction.
I have been thinking about your last mail and how we can complete this transaction without hitches, I want to remind you that every successful business involves the expenditure of money during the process to its execution and a transaction like ours in which $15 million U.S Dollars is involved cannot be any different.
As you can see in the airway bill, I had already paid for the delivery from Fukoka, Japan but I told you that when the boxes gets to your territory, they will be weighed and you may be charged for duties by the UK customs an amount depending on how they charge per kg. within the UK now, the boxes came in via diplomatic means, so there will definitely be a lot of duty waivers on the boxes because of the diplomatic immunity of the UN diplomat who is bringing them to you.
Honestly, I would have love to send the money to you from there are strict monetary regulations here. No one is allowed to carry out foreign transfer of funds out of this country except with strict permission from the government and good reason to back it up, If it was possible for me I wouldn't have sent the boxes to you via diplomatic means, I would have sent the funds to you through wire transfer, but I had to do it via this kind of discreet delivery so as to by-cut the government's financial laws.
Please I urge you to find a means of sending the fee to the diplomat as quickly as possible and when he deliver the boxes to you, on your own, open any of the boxes and remove the custom duties from my share to reimburse yourself for the money you sent to the diplomat and keep the balance in a safe place till I come, what is more important to me is the safety of our money in your care.
I appreciate and commend you for all you have done for us in this deal. Those boxes are all I have got to fall back on once I am back home. I urge you not to relent in your effort in making sure the boxes are delivered to you. I do understand your financial situation but always believe that hard times are not forever.
Do everything possible and raise the required custom duty fee for the diplomat today. I have made up my mind to give you 40% of the 15m USD because of your sincerity with me. Once the boxes are delivered to you, take out 1% for all the expenses you must have made then keep my own 29% for me and the remaining 30% to operate a charity organization that we will decide together about.
The success of this deal will give us the best retirement we have ever wished for. The success of this deal is an opportunity of a life time, I will advise that you change your stance and work hard to ensure the successful completion of this delivery. All the same, I know that whatever you spend to ensure the successful completion of this transaction, you will get it back the same very week when the boxes are in your possession.
No matter the amount of money you put into the success of this deal, it will not be a waste compared to what we stand to benefit at the end of the day and you must recall that only our unalloyed commitment to this deal, will ensure success for us and make our dreams come to reality.
Note that the diplomat is not aware that the content of the boxes are money; please do not tell the diplomat that the boxes contains money, the boxes are packaged in a consignment as mere goods. Just let him know they are personal effects that belong to a dead soldier friend of yours, directed to you.
You must remember that the success of this deal is not a favor to me alone but to the both of us and our families. I am doing this because I have so much confidence in you and I know you will not betray me. I see you as part of me and I have taken you as my family. My confidence and trust in you should not be betrayed. I have put a lot on the line here and God shall see us through.
Acknowledge receipt of this mail and keep me updated on your progress with the diplomat ASAP
God bless you and God bless America.
Best Regards.
Sgt. Amelia Argueta.
