Unclaimed Permanent Life Insurance Policy

Philip E Bertrand of Bertrand Partners LLP solicitors apparently in Quebec, Canada is sending the same email to a list of possible beneficiaries of a late relative's life insurance policy. The e-mail isn't personally addressed to us, nor is the name of the deceased relative mentioned. How can all the recipients be due a life insurance policy pay-out? They can't, it is a scam.

Let's look more closely at the e-mail received.

Notes

"Red Flags" sender e-mail address: contrag@gac.rn.gov.br. Why would a supposedly Canadian Solicitor be contacting us from a Brazillian government email account (possibly hacked) ?

They give a reply to e-mail address: philip.bertrand@bertrandpartllp.com. This gives an opportunity of checking the website bertrandpartllp.com. This website appears very generic and the domain name was only registered on the 12th May 2025, a very recent date for what purports to be a well established legal practice.

Bertrand Partners LLP and the address given in the email lead to another this time legitimate Quebec law firm. The address being given is a real Quebec address however the telephone number is an Ontario number. Philip Bertrand is also not listed as a genuine law prohessional.

Recommendation:

Just delete the e-mail.
